Within the work and activities of the Al-Rafidain Forum, Baghdad 2021, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Bashir Khalil Al-Haddad, participated this evening in the open lecture for the twelfth session under the title: (Fighting Corruption between Multiple Bodies, Diversity of Methods and Effectiveness of Legislation), In the official and governmental presence of Judge Alaa Jawad Hamid, Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Chairman of the Board of Supreme Audit, Mr. Rafal Yassin Khudair, Judge Iyad Mohsen Damad, and researcher in international crises Ms. Nahib Hegel, while the dialogue was moderated by Mr. Saeed Yassin Moussa, a former member of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption. With the presence of a large number of representatives of civil society organizations, those interested in political affairs, and deputies.
In the context of his speech, the Deputy Speaker of the Council indicated that: “The parliamentary system gave the legislative institution an important role in combating corruption, and parliaments in the world are one of the pillars of integrity, Corruption as a whole constitutes a constant threat to stability, prosperity, and development and to all the foundations of the state, and it is the scourge of societies, past and present, and we need real political will and national solidarity to fight it and get rid of it.”Al-Haddad pointed out that the multiplicity of oversight bodies without coordination and cooperation between them on the one hand, and between them and the Council of Representatives, on the other hand, will lead to negative results, slackness and waste of time and public money, and the overlapping of competencies between them.
