The Parliament’s Speaker Mohammad al-Halboosi, on Saturday received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Stephen Hickey, to discuss relations between the two countries, and the latest developments in Iraq and the region.
The meeting discussed the economic crisis the country is going through and the importance of coordinating efforts with international organizations to support the Iraqi economy, the file of the displaced and the voluntary return to their homes, and the efforts of the international community to expedite the completion of this file, in addition to a number of issues of common concern.
For his part, the British ambassador affirmed his country’s support for the stability of the political process and the legislative and executive institution in Iraq and the need to unify visions and dialogue between the political forces to face the challenges and create the appropriate atmosphere to reach the date of early elections.
