The Deputy Speaker of the Council discusses with a delegation of women activists the representative efforts in the field of protecting the family and enhancing the role and position of women in society.  

 

The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Bashir Khalil Al-Haddad, today, Thursday 10/15/2020, received in his official office in Baghdad, in the presence of Representative Dr. Mayada Al-Najjar, a delegation of civil women activists in the field of human rights and family protection, Headed by Amal Kabbashi, during the meeting they discussed parliamentary efforts and legislation on family and childhood protection, In addition to issues related to Iraqi women, enhancing their role in society, supporting them and activating their participation in all fields.

Al-Haddad indicated to the importance of the Iraqi women’s role in construction and development, especially in this sensitive phase the country is going through, On the other hand, the draft law against domestic violence was discussed, which needs more seminars, discussions and gathering opinions from experts, judges, jurists, religious scholars, intellectuals and politicians. And awareness through the media to mature the law in line with the norms and traditions of our society, and to secure legal protection for all family members, Limiting the manifestations of violence, eliminating its causes, and preserving the principles of human rights, in compliance with international treaties and covenants.
