The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received a phone call from the Canadian Foreign Minister Mr. Francois Philippe.
During the call, they discussed relations between the two countries, issues of common concern, developments in the security situation in Iraq, and its implications for the region.
H.E. the Speaker affirmed Iraq’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Canada to achieve common interests in all fields, stressing the importance of respecting Iraqi sovereignty, preserving stability in Iraq and the region, and working to reduce tension.
For his part, the Canadian Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the views of the Speaker of Parliament, reiterating his country’s keenness to cooperate and commit to the peace, stability and prosperity of Iraq, stressing the continued partnership with the Iraqi people in realizing these goals.
