Al-Kaabi meets representatives of Basra Protests Coordinating Committee

The First Deputy Speaker Mr. Hassan Karim al-Kaabi met in his office on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, with representatives of Basra Protests Coordinating Committee.
Al-Kaabi said, “The Council of Representatives is keen to include in the 2019 budget very large financial allocations to all provinces, specifically Basra, which suffers more than other provinces from the lack of services, but the implementation of major projects requires the existence of administrative and political stability inside Basra or any other Iraqi city.”
Concerning the demands of the protesters, al-Kaabi remarked, “all these demands are legitimate and feasible, but they need to be organized through coordinating councils in order to be studies and referred to the concerned parties. The Council of Representatives is ready to support these demands being the constitutional representatives of the people”.
