Al-Halbusi receives Chairperson of Foreign Relations Committee of the French National Council

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbusi received, on Thursday, the Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee of the French National Council, Marielle de Sarnez, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Iraq Bruno Aubert and a number of MPs of the Foreign Relations Committee.
The meeting reviewed the parliamentary relations between Iraq and France and means of strengthening them to ensure the interests of the two countries, as H.E. stressed the Parliament’s keenness to activate parliamentary diplomacy as the basis for building relations with the peoples of the world, especially France.
Al-Halbusi called on to activate committees of friendship with all countries, especially those with successful experiences in the work of democracy.
As for the work of parliament, the Speaker said: “There is a real desire to communicate with our counterparts in the parliaments of the world; to benefit from their experience and to inform them of the successful democratic experience in Iraq,” stressing that “the current session of the parliament is out of the cloak of sectarianism and nationalism that prevailed during the previous sessions, depending in its work on the programs of political parties as the basis for the evaluation of the phase.”
He pointed out that diversity within coalitions has become an addition to the legislative authority, which is working to involve all components of the Parliament in expressing positions and views that benefit the peoples that are the basis of governance in countries, including Iraq.
The Speaker affirmed the importance of creating all conditions; in order to support the common interests, which contribute to the stability of the country and the prevention of foreign interventions under any address or name.
For her part, the Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee of the French National Council expressed her country’s support for Iraq in all areas, praising the role of the Speaker and his efforts to ensure the security and stability of the country.
